2010 Yamaha FZ6R $7390-$7490 PDF Print E-mail

Fear not, new rider dreaming of a sporty choice! The FZ6R from Yamaha should satiate your hunger for some flash and need to look fast even when keeping to the posted limit in school zones.

The Fizzer also represents that rare instance when a manufacturer directly solicits new riders. From Yamaha’s marketing copy:

“The FZ6R offers features that make it easy for beginning rider to get started: low seat height, grips that reach back, and a torquey, 600cc engine you won’t outgrow anytime soon.”

Yamaha not only built the FZ6R with the beginner in mind, it also built a fair bit of adjustment into the ride position.

The 6R’s 30.9-inch seat is adjustable for a 20mm increase in height, and its handlebar – already 12mm further back and 12mm lower than the FZ6 model that preceded it – offers 20mm of forward adjustment.

During the FZ6R’s new model launch, 5-feet, 10-inch Fonzie remarked that he could easily flatfoot with the seat in its 30.9-inch position, yet after 150 miles of riding never felt as though the seat was too low.

This bike is essentially fully faired and has an effective windshield. Dual disc front brakes provide “adequate power,” said Fonz from the intro, and during our recent comparison of the FZ6R to the Suzuki GSX650F and Kawasaki Ninja 650R, the Yamaha was deemed to have the best brakes of the bunch.

If Ferrari gets its wish, MotoGP superstar Valentino Rossi might be trading up his Yamaha motorcycle for something of the four-wheeled variety, namely a Ferrari F1 race car.

It’s been no secret that the Prancing Horse has been after Rossi for quite some time now, making numerous invitations and overtures over the years for the Italian icon to switch racing disciplines.

And if the Scuderia haven’t made their intentions any more obvious before, outgoing Fiat Group Chairman and current Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo pretty much let the entire world know about Ferrari’s on-going courtship with Rossi. "We want a third car in F1 next year and I would do everything to have Valentino," he said. "When he wins this year’s MotoGP, enough is enough, he must also win in Formula 1."

Rizla Suzuki

Rizla Suzuki has today released the first pics of the 2010 GSV-R, the 800cc MotoGP racing bike that will be ridden by Loris Capirossi and Alvaro Bautista in the upcoming season. The bike will again distinguish thanks to the dominating Blue with RIZLA written on each side.

Althought the bike doesn’t look much different from the 2009 model, the team claims their fourth generation model is better from all points of view: acceleration, aerodynamics, chassis and electronics. Still the V4 copes with engine restrictions implemented into this year’s championship, meaning Suzuki will only supply 6 engines for all 18 races.
